Claxton Vineyard Tier II Winery and Frost Protection Pond
The Claxton Winery proposal (application filed on June 7, 2011) would allow for construction and operation of a Tier II Winery providing for (1) a 20,000 case per year production facility; (2) a public wine tasting room; and (3) up to 32 annual organized gatherings of fewer than 80 attendees.
Permit Application Numbers: 11DVP-00000-00009, 12NGD-00000-00012
645 North Refugio Road, on the east side of Refugio Road approximately 1,300 ft south of its intersection with Highway 246
A draft Mitigated Negative Declaration (12-ND-12) was prepared for the proposed project and was circulated for a 48-day public review and comment period from July 19 through September 4, 2012. After the end of the public review period, the applicant revised the originally proposed project by (1) eliminating the proposed 8 annual winery special events of 80-150 attendees, (2) increasing from 24 to 32 the number of proposed annual organized gatherings of fewer than 80 attendees and (3) eliminating the proposed frost protection pond. The Draft Negative Declaration was revised in response to public comments and the new project description; however it was not re-circulated because no new environmental impacts were identified and no new mitigation measures were added.
A Zoning Administrator Hearing is scheduled for September 9, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. in the Planning Commission Hearing Room at 123 E. Anapamu St., Santa Barbara.
